Children's Books illustrated by Mary White
Mary Whyte is the illustrator of many children's books including three being published in Japan. (Waltz of the Scarecrows was awarded the Smithsonian Award of Excellance ) Many of the original illustrations are now in collections of private individuals and institutions including the Mazza Collection of Children's Book Illustrations of the University of Findlay in Ohio.
The popular Boomer series is based on the artist's own golden retriever and delights children and dog lovers with illustrations that capture the energy and loving nature of the dogs. The series consists of three books, Boomer's Big Day, Boomer Goes to School, and Boomer's Big Surprise, all written by Constance McGeorge and published by Chronicle Books. The state of Georgia presents a copy of Boomer Goes to School to every child as they enter kindergarten. Click on the images for details. |
